spring, is that you?

it was almost warm this morning :) didn't need a coat, beautiful sunrise. aw... just checked the weather to see if this will continue and here's what i found:

... A FRONT TO HERALD MORE WINTER LIKE WEATHER...
A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE EAST ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS TONIGHT AND OFFSHORE BY TUESDAY. MUCH WARMER AIR SURGES NORTH AHEAD OF THE FRONT MONDAY... FOLLOWED BY SHOWERS AND PERHAPS A THUNDERSTORM LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. MUCH COLDER AIR WILL RACE INTO THE MOUNTAINS LATE TONIGHT AS THE FRONT CROSSES EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS. MOISTURE LINGERING BEHIND THE FRONT ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS... AND A STRONG NORTHWEST FLOW WILL RESULT IN SNOW SHOWERS. LOCATIONS SUCH AS QUINWOOD... SOUTH TO FLAT TOP... AND THE HIGH COUNTRY OF NORTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA COULD SEE 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW.
IN ADDITION... VERY WINDY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO ACCOMPANY THE MUCH COLDER AIR... AS TEMPERATURES STRUGGLE TO RISE MUCH ABOVE FREEZING THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON....

well that's disappointing. has anyone ever seen the old popeye cartoon with ali baba and his forty thieves? they're in some village and the phonograph horn keeps announcing news in this loud booming voice about the approaching thieves. that's how i hear the weather statement in my head. just in case you were wondering ;)

spring can't be too far away. phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter weather which is up on March 16 + I heard the spring peepers along the huckleberry trail yesterday.
