pumpkins of the carved variety

so it's thursday :) all this cold weather makes we want to spend my evenings sipping hot soup, curled up on my couch under a quilt ;) which is what my plans are for tonight- staying in! lastnight, we had a great girls' evening carving pumpkins. walmart had them for a flat $3 each! cassie and i bought 2 for carving lastnight, and others to carve friday. cassie made scarface X, although we suspect she's lost count and he may actually be scarface XII. mine is a happy snaggle tooth pumpkin, with a heart nose and triangle ears stuck up on toothpicks :) we had a great time drinking wine and giggling as we were up to our ears in pumpkin guts. fun stuff :)

in other news, the silhouette release party is approaching! it's next week, on wednesday. anyone is welcome to come, will be at easy chair bookstore. i have 2 poems in the fall issue, so i'm very excited about it :)

"Poetry is the imagination. That's what you use to overcome the rational and the irrational. You can't live a rational life so you live a life of ritual; you live a life of routine. If you find no answers living in the routine, you find answers in the imagination, and the imagination creates forms for you, and answers you can live with. I am not the same person now as I used to be."
